@Magnetar Concierge Answers to the above:
1) Please insure your firmware is up to date
The player is running the latest firmware, V886 from January 2025. I updated the firmware soon after I first set up the player after getting it last month (April 26).
2) Please insure you are using the headphone jack of the player, not the amp
I was testing with the headphones plugged directly into the player's front-panel headphone jack. I did not use an extension cord with the headphones.
3) Please insure that your delay settings are at 0 in the delay settings
Delay in the Audio Parameter setting is set to 0. I also tried all of the filter choices, no change, audio leads video.
4) Please detail what your source is in specific
I have tried:
- 4k Bluray- the 4k UHD disc of the movie "Oppenheimer"
- Bluray - Bluray disc in the 4k UHD disc of "Oppenheimer", then tried Season 1/disc 1 of "Hogan's Heroes"
- DVD - I tried with Season 1/disc 1 of "Get Smart"
In all cases, audio leads the video. I checked in each case with delay in the Audio Filter settting at 0, then at -100 then at +200. I could never get the audio/video in sync.
5) Please insure your video processing is not creating the issue by turning off all video signal processing settings on your display
I turned off every video processing setting I could find in my Sony Bravia 7; that included every video filter along with the image processing to smooth out and upscale the video. No changes to the A/V sync.
6) Please describe "sync issue" in specific and what that is defined as. What is early and what is late?
Audio/dialog starts before I see the actors' mouth move.
I also tried changes as follows to the UDP900, with no difference:
- Speaker configuration as either LT/RT, Stereo and 5.1 channel. No changes.
- I switched resolution from "Auto" to "Source Direct", did not make any changes.
I also tried moving the 'Delay' setting in the Audio Parameters to positive then negative setting. I see a bit of improvmement at full +200 (is that 200ms?) but it still does not correct the audio before the video issues.
