Clipping audio in on CD tracks

  • @Magnetar Concierge

Thanks so much! This made my day/week/month/year!

    Michel

  • I just installed the update on my unit.  I tried a few CDs that exhibited clipped audio previously.

No more clipped audio on them.  😁

  • @Thomas Mathes that is correct 😉

  • Welcome to 1986.  😎

  • @Magnetar Concierge

Just for your information. I noticed the issue still occurs with some CD's but now only on track 1 and when I restart the CD it plays as it should, without clipping. Maybe that small issue can be corrected in a future update.

  • @Magnetar Concierge

I was wondering: was the issue I described in my previous post corrected in firmware update V965?

"FIX: When using UDP900 for analog output, the first half-second of the song is muted."

  • @michel.martens this was fixed in firmware 843 released this past July.

    Thanks

  • @Magnetar Concierge

Hi, thanks for replying. I uploaded the firmware update 943 in July but, as I said in the earlier post 3 months ago, the clipping still occurs on several CD's, though now only at the start of track 1, not on all the following tracks, like before. The first fraction (half second or so) is cut off. But when I restart the CD at track 1 it plays as it should, without clipping. This is not how it's supposed to be. You shouldn't have to restart a CD to have it play without clipping. How can this be fixed?

  • @michel.martens Hi Michel

Unfortunately, we cannot replicate this on any Magnetar player and as such have no available fix.

    Thanks

  • @michel.martens

It would help if you specifiy which CDs you're seeing issues with.  By specifiy, I mean not only artist/title but in particular UPC bar code too.

I mention bar codes since I've seen different pressings have the same catalog number.  Recently I noticed one album I have has 2 pressings with the same record label catalog number, one UPC code was for the North American market (pressed in the US), the other was for the EU market (pressed in Germany).

There are also more than one mastering/mix/release of a LOT of albums, so it's impossible for anyone to try and reproduce the issue without specific details.  😀

  • Hello,

With the sheer number of CD releases globally, it's virtually impossible to reproduce reliably.

With that said, we have a large library from factories large and small globally, as well as specific disc titles obtained when the initial issue appeared to discern authoring differences from reported player issues.

We cannot replicate this issue on any of the tested discs, inclusive of issue specific titles as this test was run in specific.

    Thanks
