Reverse Playback Issues Fast and Slow

  • Regular DVD and some Blu Ray,  USB input .mkv, .mpg etc. do not play at all in reverse.   The picture freezes and the counter runs in reverse.   When the counter goes back in time say a minute and you hit play the player still is frozen and then after about 15 seconds goes back to the original spot you were at when hitting <<1 for reverse play.    The chapter reverse works fine as does hitting GO TO  down arrow and using the arrow keys for the slider bar to reverse the picture manually.    If this playback issue has something to do with set resolution or other setting impacting this operation it would be nice to know.

A separate pause button would be nice as well.  Dimmer for the display is too near the stop button as well in MHO.

Another odd isssue is the zoom feature it should be locked to the zoom you set it at (my take)  until you hit stop or else the zoom button to change back to NO zoom or a different zoom.   Hitting fast forward then play or slow play often changes the Zoom between No zoom and what it was previously set.   Haven't investigated the manual to see what buttons/operations reset it.  Would be nice to know how it exactly works.

Picture quality is great for the older lower resolution stuff I mostly watch all the way through Blu Ray.

Going from the Sony XM-800 I must say I'm very impressed with the video.

    TV is a SONY 2022 43" X85 UHD.

    Firmware Ver. 815 9/24.

  • Updated the firmware to latest version,  which was pretty easy to do,   I think my issues are with discs created/authored by software other than major outlets/studios.  Examples would be discs I authored by Wondershare,  and older DVD titles such as some old TV shows etc.

I'm still impressed by the picture quality although the Sony does seem to play more content the way I use it.  The 900  will be the default player for everthing that plays well on it.

PS:  I received an email from Magnetar saying they are having a direct sale on both of their units.

    Happy Thanksgiving.
